Rough Diamonds - Episode 3 Summary & Recap

Dangerous people

The third episode of Rough Diamonds starts with the Wolfson siblings in a discussion. Noah got them a deal with the Albanian Mob, where they could get the 1 million Euros the next day, but it would mean that they need to supply 5 million Euros worth of diamonds to the mob for secret dealings.

Initially, Adina and Eli did not want to get involved in any form of money laundering; but they soon realized that it was their only way out and agreed. Noah informed Kerra the news and she made sure to get the deal through.

From Jo’s investigation, Kerra seems like a typical owner of a plastic factory, but she is actually behind a lot of underground deals and crime syndicates in south London.

Betrayal to the community

This time also happened to be a peak season for the diamond industry as they are electing the next President of the Antwerp Diamond Bourse. Noah’s father, Ezra has been supporting a candidate named Speyer because Speyer is a member of the Jewish community. The other faction is the Indians. Ezra was confident that his children would vote for someone of their own, so he did not bother reminding them.

However, Eli and Adina found themselves in a pinch when they could not find a supplier for the 5 million dollars diamond deal. Fogel had ruined their reputation, and no one wanted to work with the Wolfson family anymore. Left with no choice, Eli and Adina promised to vote for the other presidential candidate named Chatur in exchange for a business deal with his cousin. Although the two siblings intended to keep mum about it, people from the community soon found out after they saw Chatur shaking hands with Eli.

Ezra found out

Their cousin, Benny happened to find out as well; and he was there to confirm the story when Speyer eventually told Ezra the next day. Shocked, Ezra experienced a heart attack and fell on the ground. He was later treated at his own home where all his children visited him. By that time, he had already been softer and more welcoming towards Noah. The old man had been spending time with Tommy, and this seems to improve his perception of Noah as well.

When Noah came in to see him, the conversation began well with Ezra telling Noah about how he envisioned Noah taking over the business one day. He had high hopes for his son. But when Ezra started talking about the times where Noah betrayed religion, Ezra ended up telling him that he ultimately cannot trust a man without faith. This angered Noah and he left the room.

Jo Smets has also gotten information about Noah taking part in Kerra’s dealings. She then approached Eli about the Wolfson family helping out in drug smuggling. At first Eli insisted he knew nothing of it. Then, Jo pulled out a photograph of Eli and Salman Karim, indicating that Eli knew all along. In exchange for Jo making the story disappear, she requested for Eli’s cooperation with the Albanian mafia case.
